“The Price of Policy is a new Price student-produced podcast that talks about the hidden and explicit consequences of public policy decisions in Los Angeles. Join them for in-depth conversations with faculty, policymakers, community members, activists, and more.” (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-price-of-policy/id1531545166)

We have felt the pandemic’s direct impact on our daily lives but perhaps not the full scope of the damages, for example, our fragile transportation infrastructure. In the second installment of the student-produced The Price of Policy podcast series, Sustainable Metropolitan Transportation in LA, METRANS Associate Director of the National Center for Sustainable Transportation (NCST), Chair of the USC Urban Planning & Spatial Analysis Department, and Professor of Public Policy Dr. Marlon Boarnet, and Dr. Cris B Liban, LA Metro’s first-ever Chief Sustainability Officers share their thoughts on and visions of LA’s transportation network prior and during the pandemic, and the implications that follow. Contributors to this episode include students Alexander Sarno, Jonah Chang, Jordy Coutin, and Colin Harmony.

Sarno, a 2nd-year MUP/MPP Dual degree student at USC, shares that he founded the podcast series as a tool to share expert opinions and discussion on topics that get to the heart of the issues that matter, and is pleased that the platform allows subject matter experts to bring cutting edge research and practice on topics and current issues facing vital aspects of society, such as transportation. This installation of the podcast looks at transportation from a sustainability perspective, and investigates the City of Los Angeles’ vision of a green future, explores how to get people to shift to more sustainable forms of transportation, and development of modern transportation in a post-COVID world.

The Price of Policy launches new episodes on the first and third Thursday of every month and can be found on Spotify, Google Podcast, Apple Podcast, iHeart Radio, Stitcher, and their website, https://thepriceofpolicy.wixsite.com, and followed on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram (@thepriceofpolicy).
