Smart Freight Week was a weeklong series of exciting and informative programs that address the intersection of freight and the city.

The 8th International Urban Freight Conference (I-NUF) was the premier biennial conference that addressed all aspects of city logistics and goods movement in the world’s metropolitan areas. The conference attracted experts and practitioners in the urban freight, logistics and supply chain industries from around the world. It was a showcase for cutting-edge research and provided a forum for researchers, policy makers and practitioners to build a dialogue on the future of the industry. This year’s conference included special panels on urban freight in the European Union, planning for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics, and workforce development.

CITT State of the Trade and Transportation Industry Town Hall Meeting
Smart Port of the Future: Economy, Environment, Technology, and Workforce
The annual CITT Town Hall addressed the future of how we move goods and what this means for our national and regional competitiveness, the livability of our communities, and the opportunities and challenges for the workforce. Technology can contribute to a more efficient and cleaner supply chain, including port and terminal operations, but technology also contributes to a change in the way goods are moved and the skills needed by the waterfront workforce.

MetroFreight Workshop for Policymakers and Planners
Urban Freight Solutions for a Smart City
This half-day workshop provided opportunities for planners and policymakers to share best practices and common concerns about the movement of freight within and through cities. Using the recently released Complete Streets Guidebook as the framework, the workshop allowed participants to examine and evaluate potential freight management strategies from their own perspectives. The workshop was by invitation and brought together practitioners from throughout the US and the world.
