METRANS Student Assistant and Events Coordinator Yurida Ramos has recently joined the Office of City Councilmember Jose Huizar as a planning intern at their City Hall office in Downtown LA. Councilmember Huizar represents Council District 14, which encompasses Downtown LA, Boyle Heights, El Sereno, and Northeast LA neighborhoods.  The internship is geared to provide aspiring planners with practical experience in land use, economic development, transportation, and urban public policy in a municipal legislative office setting.

Ramos shared that her responsibilities will include maintaining a comprehensive contact management system tracking all interaction with constituents, as well as work with cases, entitlements, and projects.  Ramos will also draft council briefing documents, reports, talking points and other written materials. She says she is excited to be a part of CD 14 and assist in representing all of the district’s constituents.
