Please join us in welcoming the newest member of our team, METRANS Student Event Coordinator, Yanlin Zhou. In this position, Yanlin will provide support to the student events, including event planning, organizing and guest invitation. Yanlin will also head up the new Lunch with a Practitioner series, a monthly event designed to afford students the opportunity to meet in a small group setting with an active practitioner in the field to discuss varied careers in transportation and how best to prepare for them. She brings excellent organization, communication and collaboration skills to this position.
Yanlin is a first-year Master of Planning student concentrated in Transportation and Infrastructure Planning at the USC Price School of Public Policy. Before coming to USC, Yanlin completed a bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning in Shanghai Tongji University, where she obtained a strong background in design. She is now enjoying focusing on planning policy, especially in the field of transportation.
Besides transportation, Yanlin is also interested in urban design and land use planning. “I have an insatiable curiosity about city development, which led me to the study of urban planning, and my academic projects have helped me to deepen my appreciation for the role of urban planning in society and how it can change the quality of life for the people,” Yanlin noted, When asked about her other interests, she said, “I love to travel in different countries - to chat with the local people, to take a ride on local transportation, to get involved in local activities, and to have a better understanding of planning issues.”
Yanlin hopes that if you are interested in METRANS Student Events, in particular the Lunch with a Practitioner series, you will contact her at yanlinz@usc.edu.
