Andre Comandon, Research Scientist, METRANS Transportation Consortium
Biographical Sketch
Andre is a research scientist at the METRANS Transportation Consortium at the University of Southern California. His doctoral work at the UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs focused on how urban inequality maps onto space to segregate people and resources, and the role of housing in reinforcing or undermining divisions. At USC, Andre's research has put greater emphasis on mobility. His main project used individual tax records to trace how people moved within the Northern California Megaregion. The project documented the large-scale migration from the Bay Area to the neighboring Central Valley and Sacramento metro areas and the links to the housing crisis, lengthening commute times, and sprawling urban form.
