Freight Video Challenge

Wednesday, August 31, 2022

Location: Online
The Center for International Trade and Transportation at CSU Long Beach is working with the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) on the workforce development piece of a regional freight impact assessment study. One of the tasks is a social media challenge where you can share your vision for how the goods movement industry could benefit and/or challenge your communities!  We’re looking for videos of no more than 40 seconds in length, filmed on a phone, and easily shared via a submission form linked below.

Participants submitting videos will be automatically entered into a raffle drawing for a chance to win a $100 Visa gift card.  Videos may be used as part of a toolkit being developed for the project that helps communities understand the challenges and opportunities associated with the freight and logistics sector in Southern California. This includes the impacts of more traffic but also the opportunities afforded by well-paying jobs.

SCAG is particularly interested in hearing from young people in our region. If you or your children, grandchildren, spouse, etc. are looking for a fun way to spend a few minutes during the last week or so before school starts, we’d love to hear from you. The instructions are below. The link includes a sample video.

  1. Submit a video no longer than 40 seconds, 10 MB file size
  2. Please introduce yourself by sharing your name and/or the community in which you live or work
  3. Please consider responding to the following questions when creating your video:
    a. What is your personal relationship to the goods movement industry? (e.g. “I work for Amazon” or “I order from Amazon weekly” or “I live near railroad tracks”)
    b. How do you envision your community benefiting from the opportunities related to the goods movement?
    c. How does the movement of goods in your community impact or benefit you?
    d. What ideas do you have for addressing the challenges related to moving goods in and through your community?
  4. You may submit multiple video submissions if you would like to answer multiple questions but each video may not exceed 40 seconds.
  5. Submit by Aug 31, 2022 via the video submission form: https://sur-vey.typeform.com/to/KivcnK5P
