METRANS is thrilled to announce HDR as its newest METRANS Associate Partner. For over the past hundred years, HDR has provided engineering innovation, environmental progress and foundation-building construction services throughout the United States and worldwide. Its multidisciplinary international teams address challenges in transportation, energy, urban developmentand more.

HDR projects have been named the nation’s best overall engineering achievement four times in the past decade by the American Council of Engineering Companies, and the company is consistently highly ranked in industry engineering and architecture surveys. HDR’s work within the field of transportation has strengthened the interpersonal ability to connect by improving physical transportation systems and providing custom mobility solutions that creates strongvibrant, and resilient communities. Headquartered in Omaha, Nebraska, HDR has more than 200 offices around the world including locations in 15 California cities. Projects in HDR’s Los Angeles portfolio include designing the automated people mover at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), engineering oversight of the Port of Long Beach’s Pier B freight modernization effort and designing the transformation of Los Angeles’ historic Union Station from a termination point to a run-through station. With an already impressive repertoire of projects, METRANS Director Genevieve Giuliano voiced excitement for future undertakings, “We look forward to working with such an innovative organization like HDR as we work to solve the transportation problems of large metropolitan regions.”

Carrie Bowen, California Highway and Roads Leader, along with Tom Kim, Senior Vice president and Transportation Manager for Southern California, represent HDR on the METRANS Advisory Board.  “METRANS’s work preparing the transportation workforce, supporting innovation and sharing knowledge is key to our industry’s continued progress,” said Bowen. “We’re excited to be part of the thought leadership that moves our communities forward and tackles the transportation challenges we all face on a daily basis.”

Community involvement and collaboration is important to HDR.  Initially founded with an eye to help rural Midwest towns modernize and adapt to a changing world, HDR is now one of the largest employee-owned companies in the United States, employing more than 10,000 people worldwide.  HDR is committed to supporting the next generation of the transportation workforce and by becoming a METRANS partner, is furthering those foundational goals.
