Project Objective:
The objective of the study is to improve roadway safety through an investigation of the association between the crash risk likelihood of truck drivers and their patterns of work. From this work we intend to develop insights into the construction of hours-of-service regulations that help ensure driver safety while maintaining an economically viable trucking industry, and also into the construction of driver schedules that maintain a safe driving environment. The research will also serve as the basis for the PhD thesis of Aviroop Mukherjee.
