Please join us in congratulating Vy Phan-Hoang (MPL, Price; Certificate in Transportation Systems, Viterbi; 2015), who has been selected the METRANS Student of the Year.  The Student of the Year honors outstanding students from each University Transportation Center around the country.  Vy will attend the TRB Annual Conference to receive the award. 

Vy is currently an intern at Foothill Transit, and was recommended by her instructor, Eric C. Shen, P.E., PTP, Director of Transportation Planning at the Port of Long Beach, who notes, “Vy is…an independent thinker who is not afraid to challenge and collaborate with lecturers’ thoughts, yet she is always polite, respectful, and constructive.  Vy also impresses me as a dependable and responsive para-professional. She has gained real-world working experiences through interning with the City of Los Angeles Emergency Management Department, the Port of Los Angeles, and Foothill Transit. Most recently, she impressed my team at the Port of Long Beach for filling a vacant Transportation Planning Intern position. Vy has definitely demonstrated her marketability with her academic training, working knowledge, and has an excellent attitude towards everything she does.  I foresee Vy Phan-Hoang playing a major role in our future transportation profession.”
